Where is your tender loving care?

Pull up a chair, put the kettle on, and take a few moments for yourself. How often do you do this?
We’ve all been affected by stress and uncertainty over this past year and a half. The pandemic has caused a seismic shift of our world view. Fear and loss have touched many of us, either for loved ones, livelihoods, or security. The fact remains that no-one is certain of much these days.
During stressful times, survival responses often kick in, these being the fight, flight or freeze reactions. Opinions tend to become polarized, and the willingness to listen to other’s points of view can be diminished. All these daily stressors and worries don’t allow us to truly rest, relax or feel gratitude.
Here’s where we need to remember to give a little tender loving care or TLC. Now more than ever is the time to be kind and give a bit of TLC for others and ourselves. While we often can’t alter what’s happening in our surroundings, we can change how we act or react to them.
A sweet way of creating a sacred, relaxing and safe space or moment for yourself is to burn frankincense or copal, meditate, or simply breathe. Breath is our gateway to creating this space, a pause in the day. Spend a few moments becoming aware of how you are breathing.
Go on, try it now…take a big sip of air, the biggest one you’ve taken all day, hold it for a bit and slowly let it out. Feel yourself in the here and now, feet firmly on the ground, moving from head to heart space..
